CCMC 182 - Create with Connie and Mary Challenge

Edited:  Hahahahahahaha... OOPS.... I thought I was being so very smart and scheduled this to post today.. but I put 2011 instead of 2012, so I don't know if this will work or not for the challenge. but thats ok.

I have really had a lot of fun with challenges this weekend.  After being so tired the month of December, I'm glad to see I haven't completely forgotten how to use paper, ink and other toys.  :)

This is the Sketch Challenge.  You can see everyone's creations here at Create with Connie and Mary.
This is my card.  :)
Most of this card is stuff from the new Occasions catalog.  I really love this mini!  All kinds of fun, fun stuff!  The dark paper on the side is the new Twitterpated DSP.  I absolutely love paper.  My DH thinks I have issues, but I don't.  It's completely normal.  Really.  Hmmm.. sidetracked again...
I used the Framelets Hearts to make the heart in the center and the Heart punch for the Twitterpated heart in the center of that.  Are you wondering what the silver circle is?  Well, it's actually a brad.  Have you used the glimmer brads?  I was planning on making a bow that my upline Mary taught me how to do.  If you haven't used the glimmer brads, the pokey things (what the heck are they called??) are brittle.  They break a LOT.  I can NOT for the life of me throw them away, and when it broke today, I had an OH MY GOSH moment.  Maybe I'm slow, but I don't think anyone else has mentioned this.  I took it to the garage and hammered it flat.  Its still oooooooh sparkly and it sticks really well with a glue dot.  AND the REALLY good thing, is it will go on a card, you still get the effect of a glimmer brad, and it won't make your card non-machineable in the eyes of the USPS.  :) Life is good.  Oh, and you don't have to throw away the broken brads.  You will be seeing some more of these, I think. I may have to break a few on purpose.  :)

Paper:  Very Vanilla, RidingHood Red, Twitterpated DSP
Ink:  RidingHood Red
Other stuff:  Glimmer brad-smooshed, 1 1/4 " RidingHood Red ribbon (retired), Framlets, full heart punch, heart to heart punch

I spend too much time on the computer!

If you are a Llama who will be doing the Occasions Swap... STOP READING!!!  This will be the card you will be getting.  :)

Soooo.... two posts in one day.  Pretty AMAZING, but I've been 'gone' so long, I have lots to catch up on.  :)  This next card is one that I am pretty excited about.  Have you ever started a card and it almost makes itself and then when you are done, its like WOW.   I love it!!  This is one for me.

I was looking at the challenge blogs and saw several that interested me.  AMAZING what a little challenge will do for creativity.  :)  This challenge is for SU Only Challenge - Feeling a bit punchy.  I LOVE punches.  :)  This one is a bit clean and simple and I really like the way it turned out.

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette, Real Red (wow, my mother would tell me that Pink and Red do NOT go together.  Mom, I respectfully disagree.  Love ya.. mean it!)
Ink:  Real Red
Punches:  Large Tag, Extra large tag, heart to heart
other goodies:  sponge to sponge the middle sized heart, and dimensionals

Its been a WONDERFUL weekend with an extra day.  I think all work weeks should only be 4 days.  So, if you want to make me happy, go to my SU website and buy lots of wonderful SU goodies so I can retire and play with MY SU stuff.
Have a great day and see ya soon, I think.  :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Always a day late, aren't I? :)

Whooo hoooo!  A new year begins and fun new things to do.  I work in a job where people feel the need (I really don't know why) to give me and my employee Christmas gifts.  So, each year I make a bunch of Thank You cards to send to them.  Most of the gifts are chocolate.  bummer, huh??  These are what I came up with this year.  I really had trouble with these, but they turned out ok.  I wonder if its just the fact that I really haven't touched my toys much this last month.
So this one has (gasp) stuff that isn't Stampin Up!  I KNOW, I KNOW!  What was I thinking??  Well, this is my story and I'm stickin to it...  I have been with SU! for just a little over a year.  I have a few things (cough, cough) that I bought before I discovered how much fun SU!s stuff is.  So, each year I try to use up some of it for personal stuff.  I just can't bring myself to throw it away, even though it really is kinda inferior. :)  The background stamp is from a 2012 SAB set that you will be able to get for FREE starting Jan 24th.  It's called Fresh Vintage and I LOVE it.  Yea, I know.  I love it all, but this one is really pretty.

This one is the second one.  Same basic design, just a few changes.  I honestly get bored if I have to make the same thing too many times.  Just a few changes, makes it less boring.  The only Non SU! item is the card base.  Don't ask me where I got it, I have no idea.  The first layer is retired paper called Razzleberry Lemonade that I got off the clearance rack a while back.  It was before my time.  Hahaha!  Speaking of clearance rack, there are a LOT of goodies on the rack right now.  Quite a few punches that are the old style, but are still current.  Guess what I spent my Christmas money on.... Yup!
During December when I'm sitting in my chair trying to survive the Christmas rush, I spend a LOT of time online looking at blogs.  I have discovered MANY fun sites.  I'm sure they were there before I 'discovered' them, but bare( bear?) with me here for a minute.  One I found is a Snippet Challenge.  You gotta check it out.  A challenge to use up your bits and pieces, so these two cards are now going to be part of the challenge.  I got to use a LOT of bits and pieces on the parts with thanks on them and the Postage Stamp punch made short work of some other pieces.  Whooo hoooo!!  Only a few thousand more of this type of stuff and I am good to go.  Thanks for looking and make sure you head over to Pixie's crafty workshop and see some of her really cool stuff!
